Quality since 1934. The Molteni Group
Molteni is one of the principal Italian industrial groups in the furniture sector. It includes four leading companies in the sector: Molteni&C S.p.A. (home furniture), Unifor S.p.A. (office furniture), Dada S.p.A. (kitchen furniture) and Citterio S.p.A. (office and home furniture).
Many things have changed since 1934, when the small business was founded in Giussano, in Brianza, by Angelo and Giuseppina Molteni. Production is now industrial, distribution, now international. Today, a capacity for innovation is an essential competitive asset. But one thing has remained the same: quality, the common thread that for three generations has distinguished the evolution of a group that is one of the world leaders in the furnishing and design sector, a testament to made in Italy products in over 60 countries. Since the beginning, the Molteni Group has collaborated with Italian and international designers including Foster+Partners, Jean Nouvel, Alvaro Siza, Aldo Rossi, Pier Luigi Cerri, Michele De Lucchi, Rodolfo Dordoni, Ferruccio Laviani, Luca Meda, Dante Bonuccelli, Bruno Reichlin, Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Hannes Wettstein, Patricia Urquiola, YabuPushelberg, Arik Levy, Monica Armani and Cini Boeri.
Molteni&C is a company defined by advanced technology and a long-standing tradition. Since the ’70s it has focused on research in the modular furniture sector, creating solutions for all home environments. Its systems, such as 505, Gliss5th and Pass, are highly successful and in constant evolution. Since the ’80s Molteni&C has proposed a collection of single furniture items whose systems embody an elegant and functional house. From designs drawn out of the collective memory of the home, with Aldo Rossi, the ’90s led to furniture designed by Jean Nouvel where essentiality merged with the high-tech. In 2004, a special “Upholstery Division” was created which operates driven by a strong push toward product innovation along with the control of all production activities and careful research in the materials and upholstery sector. Molteni furnishings incorporate the wisdom of a long artisan tradition together with innovative technological quality that is practical without being ostentatious. When we talk of Molteni we speak of hidden quality, the technical and functional quality of materials that is present though often invisible in its furniture.
